


























Institute of Governance and Development Studies has initiated a strategic process to support the vision of the Vice-Chancellor of Nasarawa State University, Keffi. To this end, it has designated General [Dr.] Mathias Efeovbhokhan Rtd., an alumnus of the University and the Institute, as the Lead Facilitator of the IGDS Ideation Hub by the Director of the Institute, Prof Andrew Zamani. General Mathias has played several roles in facilitating strategic relationships between the Institute and external agencies, which have been successful. This appointment requires him to coordinate Hub regarding the Institute’s growing profile as a think-tank for the government. It also enables the Institute to develop self-sustaining strategies that are in the interest of the University.
Following his visit to the Institute, a courtesy call to the Vice-Chancellor was arranged to brief her on this development for her information and guidance. While welcoming General Mathias, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Sa’adatu Hassan Liman commended the trajectory of his service to the nation and patriotic zeal to support the University. She expressed optimism that his track record of meritorious national service makes him the best- fit for the role designated and assured him of the University’s confidence in this regard.
In his remarks, Gen. Mathias thanked the Vice-Chancellor for the warm reception and the confidence reposed in him. He emphasized that he has an obligation to give back to society because of the invaluable investment the nation has already made in him. He assured the Vice-Chancellor of his availability to support her administration in any capacity that may be required moving forward.
He was received in the company of her two Deputy Vice-Chancellors, Professors Abdullahi Sallau Modibbo and Theophilus Lagi in charge of Academics and Administration respectively. The Deputy Director of the Institute, Dr. Usman Alhaji Yusuf, University Librarian Aliyu Abdulkadir, and Head of the Information and Protocol Unit, Mallam Abdullahi Ja’afaru Abubakar were also in attendance at the meeting.
